HEALTHCARE DATA AGGREGATION SOFTWARE FOR ENTERPRISE
What is Fuse?
The Fuse Data Platform is envisioned to aggregate clinical, claims and financial data so that our customers can run powerful healthcare analytics and gain the insights required for improving patient outcomes as well as reduce costs.

Fuse Apps are built on the Fuse Platform and they use data in the Data Platform for analytics. The Fuse app users are beyond the technical teams including clinical staff - doctors, case managers.

The Challenge
To work with product managers, developers, and visual designers to deliver a style guide, pattern library, and several app interfaces that are contemporary, usable, and satisfy business needs.

Design interfaces for several platform apps. Own the data visualization and UX for Fuse data dashboard.
The Outcome
An entirely new look and feel for the Fuse product. We created a new style guide and pattern library that maintains business and brand standards while creating design governance.

My Role
I was the lead interaction designer on this project, and I had the pleasure of working with an incredible visual/ UX designer.
I had to investigate and question contemporary enterprise software UI to design interfaces and interactions. I had to take a very complex data product and distill it into a clean, consistent, and likable user experience.
Tools Used
Adobe CC: Indesign, Illustrator, XD, Photoshop
Sketch, Invision, Craft
Axure
Whiteboards, sketchbook, post-it notes

The Process
It was crucial I understood who would be using this product and why they would be using it. My process for this project involved constantly carrying around a sketch book when I gained a new insight about this complex data product.
To understand then design
the best experience, I used affinity mapping
Affinity Mapping
Sketching out interfaces and interaction is a
constant process
Sketching
I researched and applied interaction best practices to make the interface of this product as simple as possible.

Information Architecture
I continuously updated the app architecture of the Fuse product.

Interaction Rules and Style Guide
I designed and wrote the interaction rules for
the Fuse app interface redesigns and the Fuse style guide.
The Style guide was redesigned to
create make the new UX innovative and intuitive.

User Testing
We made a series of prototypes to test certain interactions. Please see the above link of a prototype I made to explore some of the interactions in the redesign of the Fuse interface.

Designing The Monitoring Dashboard
The monitoring dashboard required several data visualizations. This was an excellent exercise in telling a visual and interactive story to a user through data visualization.
It was important to keep all UX best practices in mind while striving to fulfill business requirements for the data software.

Data Visualization Example
This was a particularly challenging data visualization. I needed to show scale over time.
Conclusion and Next Steps
Redesigning the user experience of The Fuse Software Product was a challenge and an invaluable experience. Below is my visual interpretation of the monitoring dashboard.

Next Steps: The monitoring dashboard requires continued exploration of data visualizations. The ongoing implementation of the new style guide and pattern library is the ideal next step.
